Conversation #53: The year comes to an end…

This is going to seem so lame, but I’m sitting on the couch watching Rick Springfield sing “Jesse’s Girl” (LOVE it) while finally getting around to typing up my last blog post for the year.  I put it off all day!

I was actually at a beautiful wedding earlier with my hubby, but we left a little early because I was again suffering from a sinus headache/migraine (not sure which).  Anyway, I’m feeling a bit better now and I wanted to get in my last blog post of the year real quick.  I’m in CST so it is only 11 PM here even though the ball is about to drop in NYC.

This has been a good year for me.  Blogging has been weird for me this year.  I quit for a while.  I got a new look.  Then I ran out of things to say (shocking I know).  Finally, I have a list of things to write about and I can’t seem to find the time and energy to just sit down and right them!  Maybe this next year.

I have also grown a lot internally, and I feel so blessed for the life God has given me.  It has been a long road at times, especially in my marriage, and I just feel like my husband and I have finally made it to a great place.  I know there will be more ups and downs, but right now we are good.  Here are just a few highlights from the last year:

January – took an unbelievable trip to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, and we stopped at the White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns:

May – the hubby graduated from law school!!!

July – hubby took the bar exam (trust me, that was a milestone!)

November – hubby passed the bar exam (WooHoo) and we took our first trip out of the country to the Dominican Republic:

December – Hubby opened is his own law practice and we celebrated the holidays with family and friends

As you can see, much of the year was dominated by law school, and we are looking forward to a change of pace this year.  I wish all of you the best in the coming year, and I pray that God pour out His blessings on all of you.  See ya next year!

A Conversation about Absenteeism

Wow!  It has been too long.  I have still kept up on reading everyone’s blogs, but commenting and writing have been out the window for me.  I have thought often about blog topics, and I’ll try to get back on regular posts tomorrow. Basically, the last few weeks have been full of preparing for this past Saturday.  What was this past Saturday, you may ask?  My incredibly intelligent and amazing husband graduated from law school!!!!!!!!!  I can hardly contain my excitement.  I am proud beyond words, and now we just have one last hurdle: the bar exam.  I know the next two and half months will still be full of study, but it still doesn’t squash my excitement of no more late night classes, missed parties, or tension filled finals weeks.  We are done!  I only say “we” because it is definitely a path that affects both the student and family, but trust me, the hubby did ALL the work!  Needless to say though, we had lots of family in town...

Conversation #22b: Fashion help!

So we talked about fall weddings a couple of days ago - can a brighter jewel tone work in fall?  I bought this dress on clearance at Target for $13 a couple of days ago: So y'all made me feel pretty good about wearing a sleeveless option and using a pashmina or a cardigan.  I actually have a pretty cute black dress cardigan so here is what I was thinking:  Can I wear this dress in October with black tights and black suede pumps and pull it off?  I think it could be cute, but I need your input.  If not, I might return it (or for $13 I might just keep it because I'm thinking I can wear it to a wedding this Saturday also!)  I realize that this wedding isn't until October, but my MIL was talking about a dress for her so it put it in my mind. Honestly, I'm afraid if I don't start looking now I may forget and then be in real panic mode!  Anyway, thoughts???

Conversation #32: Kitchen Design Help!

Okay, I don’t really know that too many people read this blog since I moved to a new address, but I’m begging if you do, please help me.  I am at a loss on what to do with part of my kitchen. Here is how I painted my kitchen 3 years ago: It was fun, bright, and I like it, but we decided it needed to be a bit more grown-up these days.  I knew we would have to paint it before we moved so we decided to just go ahead and do it now for a change.  We decided to go with a gray so that it would be neutral but not boring.  However, the gray had a strong blue tone to it on the walls and now I need to phase out my turquoise decor I think. Here are some afters (still putting it back together): Some of these are the same shots but with/without flash to show the colors.  I think I really like the new color, but the turquoise trim does not go anymore in my opinion.  I’m trying to figure out what to do with it, and I need help!!! ...
