Conversation #138: Open to Interpretation (I love these!)

As part of Kayla's fashion challenge, she hosted another group Open to Interpretation.  I'm not sure why I find these to be so much fun, but I guess I just love to see all of the ways people fashioned the look for them.  Here is the inspiration from one Kayla via J.Crew (only one of my fave places):
Now some lovely ladies interpreted the color, others the style and some both!  I really love this classic look.  I also realized while looking for my outfit that I only own two pencil skirts, navy and black, and that is sad because I love them (therefore I am going to pull out my sewing pattern for them and make some in colors!)  I also realized that I own a ton of cardigans and turtleneck sweaters, but very few crew necks.  Anyway, as you'll see below, I went with the shape for my inspiration and tried to throw in a bright color with my necklace (which I don't think my husband liked, but I don't often take fashion advice from him anyway).

Outift breakdown:
Sweater, J.Crew, $15
Blouse, Lands' End, $10 (? I really can't remember)
Skirt, Express via thrifted, $4 (and it has leopard print lining!)
Pumps, Lela Rose for Payless, $30
Necklace, J.Crew Factory online, $4

I actually really liked this look and probably wouldn't have layered this sweater like this because I miss the obvious sometimes so I'm glad I did!  I also really like my shoes, but sadly they rub a little on the side.  Hopefully that was just because this was their debut.  Oh, and lastly, can I say how weird it feels to be sporting bare legs in February?!  This is better than the same time last year when we had snow, ice, and COLD, but I wasn't quite ready for spring.  I guess I'm glad that the groundhog saw his shadow :)

Check out the other interpretations here.

Cute interpretation. And, love the husband comment. Mine dislikes a lot of my accessories, too.

A Conversation about Absenteeism

Wow!  It has been too long.  I have still kept up on reading everyone’s blogs, but commenting and writing have been out the window for me.  I have thought often about blog topics, and I’ll try to get back on regular posts tomorrow. Basically, the last few weeks have been full of preparing for this past Saturday.  What was this past Saturday, you may ask?  My incredibly intelligent and amazing husband graduated from law school!!!!!!!!!  I can hardly contain my excitement.  I am proud beyond words, and now we just have one last hurdle: the bar exam.  I know the next two and half months will still be full of study, but it still doesn’t squash my excitement of no more late night classes, missed parties, or tension filled finals weeks.  We are done!  I only say “we” because it is definitely a path that affects both the student and family, but trust me, the hubby did ALL the work!  Needless to say though, we had lots of family in town...

Conversation #22b: Fashion help!

So we talked about fall weddings a couple of days ago - can a brighter jewel tone work in fall?  I bought this dress on clearance at Target for $13 a couple of days ago: So y'all made me feel pretty good about wearing a sleeveless option and using a pashmina or a cardigan.  I actually have a pretty cute black dress cardigan so here is what I was thinking:  Can I wear this dress in October with black tights and black suede pumps and pull it off?  I think it could be cute, but I need your input.  If not, I might return it (or for $13 I might just keep it because I'm thinking I can wear it to a wedding this Saturday also!)  I realize that this wedding isn't until October, but my MIL was talking about a dress for her so it put it in my mind. Honestly, I'm afraid if I don't start looking now I may forget and then be in real panic mode!  Anyway, thoughts???

Conversation #19: A blast from the past – Monday Movie Review

Ever since the hubby and I ended our blockbuster subscription, we have really not watched too many movies.  Honestly, he has been so busy that we just haven’t had the time.  However, my amazing in-laws have been entertaining me during this bar exam review time, and we went to see the Sorcerer’s Apprentice on Saturday.  (Picture from here .) I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  It was exciting and thrilling, and in my opinion, I’m not sure I would take a really young child to it (maybe 10 and older…)  It kept my attention, and I don’t think that it drug on too long either.  Sometimes I think these epic type movies go on and on and on, but this ended at a nice time, and it had the most adorable bulldog in the cast, too! I definitely recommend it! (Picture from here .) We also recently watched The Paper Chase .  I guess this movie itself is kind of blast from the past – 1973 to be exact.  Our neighbor actually dropped it in our mailbox as ...
